See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

The Victorian frontage of this pub seems at odds with the modernised neighbouring shop fronts on either side. A traditional two-roomer with a public bar at the front and a larger room at the rear accessed via a side entrance or from the bar by a short corridor. The front bar is fairly intimate with TVs delivering sports and news; it seems to be where the regulars meet for a chat and to enjoy some craic. Of note here is a copy of the deeds of the premises when it was bought in 1898 for the then princely sum of £1,250. Apart from some photographs, the rear room has a mainly music theme with many black & white pictures depicting musicians, musical instruments, and musical artwork, plus a large 19th century map of the local area. It hosts live bands every Friday and every other Saturday, as well as karaoke on Thursdays. Outdoor seating is available at both the front pavement area and beside the rear entrance. The regular ales are joined by a guest from the approved Enterprise Inns list.

A report from 11th March 2023 said 'no cask ale and didn't appear to have had any for some time'.
